2NE1 (pronounced "twenty-one") is a South Korean girl group created by YG Entertainment. First appearing in a Cyon commercial campaign with Big Bang for LG Telecom, their debut single "Fire" was released on May 6, 2009. 2NE1 is supposed to stand for “New Evolution of the 21st Century”. “NE” meaning “New Evolution” and “21” standing for the “21st Century”. From their official debut song, Fire, they have since then won numerous awards and #1s on the charts. They gained two mutizens on Inkigayo for their song, Fire, and a triple crown for 'I Don't Care. Their comeback in 2010 made history as they promoted 3 songs ('Can't nobody', 'Go Away' and 'Clap Your Hands') simultaneously. At the start of promotion they instantly topped the Kpop charts. On October 17, they broke history yet again with their comeback by winning a successive 4 mutizens on Inkigayo (a triple crown for 'Can't Nobody' and a mutizen for 'Go Away') since Inkigayo implemented the three wins rule. In 2010, they have worked with reputable producers, such as Will I Am and Jean Baptise in preparation for their International album. However, the will be making their Japanese debut first in March 2011.
